An Update on our Independence Branch

We know the Independence branch has been part of your financial routine, and we value your continued membership. We have some important updates to share with you about this location.

The Independence branch is moving to a reduced schedule on December 1, 2025

Beginning December 1, 2025, this location will move to a reduced schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 9:00 - 5:00.

The Independence branch will close permanently on January 14, 2026.

What This Means For You

  • Starting Dec. 1, the Independence team will serve members at our Lee's Summit branch on Thursdays through Saturdays. Same familiar faces, different location.

  • Your accounts and service will continue uninterrupted. You’ll still have the same friendly service at our Lee’s Summit and North Kansas City locations.

  • We’d love to help make the transition as smooth as possible. Stop by before January 14 or give us a call. We’re happy to walk through digital options or find the best nearby location for you.

We’re committed to keeping you informed about the upcoming closure of our Independence Branch. Below you’ll find answers to common questions, along with information about what’s next and how we’re continuing to serve you.

Why is the branch closing?

After careful review, we’ve decided to close this location due to:

  • Low member usage

  • High costs required to upgrade the building

  • A difficult-to-access location (limited ingress/egress options)

  • The facility is significantly oversized. It’s built for approximately 20 employees, but is currently staffed by fewer than five.

Closing this branch allows us to reallocate resources and better invest in the future of the credit union.

Will the staff I know still be there?

Yes! The same friendly staff you've come to know will be moving to our Main Office in Lee’s Summit after the branch closes. They'll continue to be available to help you — just at a new location.

Is the credit union planning to open a new branch?

Yes. We’re in the early stages of a comprehensive branch location study with a third-party consultant to identify potential areas for a future branch based on member needs, convenience, and growth potential.

Is the North Kansas City branch or Lee’s Summit branch closing?

No. There are no changes to our other branches at this time.

  • The North Kansas City branch will remain open and fully operational.

  • Our Main Office at 825 NE Deerbrook St in Lee’s Summit will also remain open.

There are no other major changes planned related to the merger, although you may see a few smaller adjustments to improve member service and operational efficiency.

When is the Independence Branch closing?

The branch’s last day of business will be Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

Are branch hours changing before the closure?

Yes. Beginning Monday, December 1, this branch will operate on a reduced schedule.

  • Open: Monday - Wednesday, 9:00 - 5:00

  • Closed: Thursday - Saturday

On Thursdays through Saturdays, the Independence team will be working from our main office to complete training ahead of our upcomiing merger on March 2, 2025.

Will my accounts or services change?

No. There will be no impact to your accounts, direct deposit, online banking, debit cards, or other services. Everything will continue as usual.

We recommend visiting our Main Office:

Or you can continue using our North Kansas City Branch or our extensive ATM and shared branch network.

Can I bank online?

Absolutely! Our online and mobile banking services are available 24/7 and include:

  • Alerts and notifications

  • And more

What will happen to the branch building?

We plan to sell the property and reinvest those funds into future opportunities, including potential new branches that better serve our members’ needs.
